Leadership Positioning Component for Women of Color Event Series

Thursday, February 17, 2022 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

The MASS AWIS Leadership Positioning Component for Women of Color (WOC) is a free virtual monthly mentoring and empowerment series developed for female doctoral students, postdocs, and early career professionals. It provides information and structured leadership training for women at this stage of their lives as they contemplate their current space and/or enter the workforce.

DEI themes are integrated throughout due to the set of circumstances people of color often encounter. It features talks by prominent female leaders of color plus case studies and readings curated by the experiential role model and session leader, Dr. Maru Colbert. Two of the five text references are “The Memo” and “Begin Again” regarding workplaces and fortitude for WOC, respectively.

Attendees will create a “position” graphic, a personal empowerment plan, and an “inner-strength” profile throughout the meetings. It concludes with an activity and an “action” item.

This leadership segment complements the current MASS AWIS Leadership Program, co-created for AWIS by Dr. Rigos. These hour-long workshops will occur on the third Thursday of the Month beginning in February:

February 17, 2022

March 17, 2022

April 21, 2022

*Please note that for this series, participants must sign up by the first event on February 17, 2022. Registration for this series will be closed after the first event.*
