Join Me for Coffee is a long-running series at MASS AWIS that provides a great opportunity for women in science who are seeking career development or simply inspiration. Participants will not only learn about that person’s career but also establish a new professional connection. These events are a great opportunity for participants to practice networking in an intimate setting, a skill that helps open doors to meaningful careers in STEM.

The upcoming ‘Join Me for Coffee’ event will feature medical/scientific writers Ashley Ogawa and Indrani Mukherjee. If you would like to participate in this ‘Join Me for Coffee’ event, please complete the event application form. A committee will then review all applications and select 6-8 participants for each event. Selected applicants will be notified by email at least one week prior to the event.

Ashley Ogawa-Wong is a senior medical writer at Merck & Co., Inc., where she prepares documents that are required by regulatory agencies to assess the safety and efficacy of a drug or biologic for marketing approval, such as clinical trial protocols, Investigator’s Brochures, and Clinical Study Reports.

Before joining Merck & Co., Inc., Ashley was a postdoctoral fellow at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. As someone who made a direct transition from bench scientist in academia to medical writing in a pharmaceutical organization, she is passionate about sharing her experience with others who are exploring a career in medical writing.

She received her PhD in Cell & Molecular Biology at John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii and B.A. in Biology and Psychology at Gonzaga University.

Indrani Mukherjee is the manager of stewardship communications at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, where she writes scientist profiles, crafts proposals, and shares some of the Broad’s latest discoveries on the web and in print. She earned a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Dartmouth College. Before joining the Broad, Indrani was an editor and journal development manager at JoVE (Journal of Visualized Experiments), where she managed manuscript submissions and contributed regularly to the JoVE blog.

Event Fee (upon acceptance): $7.50 for AWIS members & $20 for non-AWIS members.

Application deadline: Monday, 8th April 2024, 12 noon. Preference will be given to early applicants.
