Coffee with a Professional: Adnan Abu-Yousif

To be eligible for this event, you must be a MASS AWIS student chapter member or a MASS AWIS member
registered with National AWIS with paid Massachusetts chapter dues.

MASS AWIS wants to offer its members the opportunity to make professional connections in their career path of interest. 3 MASS AWIS members will get the opportunity to meet with a STEM professional for 45 min at a coffee shop. The meeting will be a chance to learn more about the professional’s career and make a new connection. “Coffee With a Professional” is a FREE opportunity for MASS AWIS members. MASS AWIS will provide the professional with a gift card to cover the cost of a drink for all meeting participants.
10 members are allowed to register for each “coffee” session. After registration, they will get an email asking for their resume and a short paragraph explaining why they want to meet with the professional and how the meeting would impact their career (500 characters (not including spaces) max). Their resume and personal statement will be sent to the professional that will select the 3 members he or she wants to meet with. Members will get notified by email if they have been selected or not at least a week before the time of the meeting.
Pharmaceutical Research & Development Professional: Adnan Abu-Yousif
Adnan Abu-Yousif is a discovery project team leader in the Cancer Pharmacology at Takeda Oncology. Prior to that he worked at Merrimack Pharmaceuticals where he supported preclinical development of MM-131, a bi-specific antibody that inhibits c-MET signaling including lead selection, optimization, and diagnostic strategy implementation. Prior to his industry roles, Adnan worked on the biological characterization of a variety of targeted delivery vectors including an EGFR+ tumor-targeted, activatable photoimmunoconjugate under the supervision of his postdoctoral mentor Dr. Tayyaba Hasan at Massachusetts General Hospital. In addition, Adnan was active in the Massachusetts General Hospital Postdoc Association serving as the co-chair and founding the Industry Exploration Program. Adnan has a PhD in Pharmacology, Toxicology and Experimental Therapeutics from the University of Kansas.
