MASS AWIS Science Book Club

The Billion-Dollar Molecule tells the story of Vertex Pharmaceuticals which, at its outset, was a daring start-up that challenged Big Pharma. Join MASS AWIS for a discussion of the book, plus appetizers and ample networking opportunities. This event marks the inauguration of the MASS AWIS science book club, a new and exciting initiative.

Biographies
Paul Marinelli
Paul’s experience includes process development on Ontak, rhBMP-7, and Halaven as well as analytical development on Orkambi and VX-661 at Vertex. He has also worked extensively in biotech at Genzyme and Eisai Research Institute. He is currently Senior Quality Assurance Manager for Curis, Inc., a biotechnology company focused on innovative treatments for human cancers.
Terry Nichols
Terry Nichols has nearly 20 years of leadership development experience, working in the United States and worldwide, with a focus on financial skills and the healthcare and management consulting fields. He was a Senior Director in the Talent Development Division of the Advisory Board Company, a research, technology, and consulting organization serving the health care industry. Before then he was a Senior Manager in the Professional Development Department of the Worldwide Commercial Business of the management consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton (now doing business as Strategy&, a member of the PwC global network).
Terry’s publications include a chapter on Project Management in Fombrun and Nevins, The Advice Business, the first textbook on management consulting; numerous Harvard Business School case studies and teaching notes; and contributions to the Record of the Society of Actuaries.
Terry holds a BA (magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) from Harvard College and an MA degree from Harvard University. A former Certified Public Accountant and a former Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, he lives in Cambridge and is married with two children.
