Making Your CV the Best Possible: Advice from Recruiters

Today’s job market is highly competitive. The first impression recruiters get of you is your CV. This workshop is designed to give you useful tips to improve your CV or résumé as well as letting you know common mistakes you should avoid. In addition, you will be able to sit one-on-one with recruiters and get their opinions on your CV.

Participants who wants their CV/resume to be reviewed should bring a few copies to the event.

Biographies

Lauren Celano

Lauren Celano is the Co-founder and CEO of Propel Careers, a life science search and career development firm focused on connecting talented individuals with entrepreneurial innovative life sciences companies. Lauren is very passionate about working with individuals with strong scientific backgrounds to find exciting growth opportunities in the life sciences industry. Before Propel, she spent about 10 years in the life sciences industry working with companies to advance drug molecules through SNBL USA, Aptuit, Quintiles, and Absorption Systems. She has a BS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Gettysburg College and an MBA with a focus in the health sector and entrepreneurship from Boston University. Lauren is on the Board of MassBioEd, the Advisory Board of the Boston University School of Public Health Pharmaceuticals Program, and the Advisory board for Endicott College Boston. She also serves on the Gettysburg College Entrepreneurial Fellowship Advisory Council and the programming committee of the Capital Network.

Alicia Rethage

Alicia worked for pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical global organizations as head of human resources. Schering Plough brought her as an expatriate from Mexico’s subsidiary to work in the United States anticipating the company’s global growth. Mrs. Rethage also worked for Roche Laboratories, PAREXEL, Degussa (Evonik) and Lonza supporting all functions from R&D to Commercialization. Alicia earned a BS in Industrial Psychology, a BA in Higher Education, and graduated from the Cornell School of Industrial and Labor Relations. She is certified in Labor Relations from Rutgers the State University of New Jersey and as Senior Professional in Human Resource from the Society for Human Resource Management. With 40 year’s of experience in the life science industry and the  multicultural exposure, Alicia is open to help others in their professional journey, whether is job searching, mentoring or coaching…always willing to help. Alicia loves the beach and watching tennis — particularly Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.

Stephanie Moore

Stephanie Moore is the Director of Human Resources at RA Capital Management, a crossover fund manager dedicated to evidence-based investing in healthcare and life science companies. Her responsibilities include talent assessment and acquisition as well as managing organizational growth and development. Prior to joining RA Capital, Stephanie led recruiting efforts at Aileron Therapeutics and was a Principal at J. Robert Scott Executive Search. She earned her Master’s degree from the University of Rochester and Bachelor’s degree from Boise State University.

Pam Kurtzer

Pam Kurtzer loves to recruit in the biotech industry. Starting with Genzyme in the early 90s shortly after the approval of their 1st treatment for Gaucher’s disease she has had the privilege of staffing for a wide variety of start-up drug, device, and technology companies bringing her energy, integrity, and recognition of talent to build high performing, sustainable teams. She considers herself very fortunate to be with bluebird bio for the last 5 years having helped grow the company from 15 to 250+ and plays an important role in keeping the bar high on talent while continuing to scale the company with an expected 1st approval in the next 3-5 years.

Emily Gransky

Emily is the Head of People Operations for Barkly, an early stage SaaS endpoint cybersecurity startup located in the Financial District of Boston. Prior to Barkly, she was Head of People Strategy for Quanttus, a wearables startup located in Cambridge, MA. Her career in recruiting began in 2004, when she spent 10 years recruiting Masters and PhD level Statistical Modelers (now called Data Scientists) for the Financial Services, Insurance, Consumer Goods and Consulting industries. Emily received her BS in Chemical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in May, 2001 and spent 2 years with GE Silicones as Process Engineer as well as 3 years with Rogers Corporation, a specialty materials company, as a Product Specialist. Emily believes that a background based in math and science is an excellent springboard into multiple fields, as evidenced by her own career path, and is passionate about helping people do the best work of their life.

Bridget Vun

Bridget Vun is a solutions-oriented Talent Acquisition leader with experience partnering with key executives for strategic planning and driving growth at all levels within the organization. Bridget started her career in recruitment at Winter, Wyman & Company, a local recruitment agency based out of Waltham, Massachusetts. For the last six and half years, she has been with Kronos Inc. a Massachusetts based software company where she oversees the company’s global hiring needs for professional services. Bridget has a unique way of building long lasting relationships with those within the market place… ” You never know where I will end up, or where you will end up, so let’s stay in touch!” Bridget resides in Medford with her husband and two daughters ages 10 & 2.
