Panelist bios

Taylor Ismaili, Scientist I, Gossamer Bio  

Taylor is a research scientist with six years of pharmaceutical industry drug discovery experience in both Big Pharma as well as small biotech, with a Bachelor and Master of Science in Pharmacology & Toxicology. She has a breadth of experience in a variety of therapeutic areas, including immunology, immune-oncology, neuroscience and rare genetic disease. She presently serves as both a pharmacologist and biologist supporting various programs, ranging from immuno-oncology programs to genetic diseases. Taylor has an expertise in a variety of assay development techniques and instrumentation, including biochemical and cell-based assay development, compound screening, and supporting drug discovery programs with active medicinal chemistry.

Zainab Khaku, Research Associate II, CNS Biology, BlueRock Therapeutics 

Zainab received a Master of Science in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the University at Buffalo. She works for BlueRock Therapeutics as a Research Associate II on the CNS Biology Team. Her current research focuses on the differentiation of pluripotent stem cells into functional cells and how that can be used as allogenic cellular therapies. More specifically her team is focused on demyelinating disorders such as Multiple Sclerosis. This field has interested her since undergrad when one of her professors passed away from a neurodegenerative disorder. She enjoys contributing to a field that has the potential to improve so many lives.

Indrani Mukherjee, Senior Development Writer, Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard

Indrani is the senior development writer at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, where she writes scientist profiles, crafts proposals, and shares some of the Broad’s latest discoveries on the web and in print. She earned a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Dartmouth College. Before joining the Broad, Indrani was an editor and journal development manager at JoVE (Journal of Visualized Experiments), where she managed manuscript submissions and contributed regularly to the JoVE blog.

Ellen Leinfuss, Senior VP, Commercial at Certara

Ellen is a highly experienced and dynamic executive with a demonstrated record of success in multiple commercial areas, including marketing, business development and strategy. She presently serves as lead Commercial Officer for Certara’s Simcyp division, which provides highly sophisticated modeling & simulation technologies to advance drug development.  Ellen’s combined education in Science (Bachelors in Chemistry) and Business (MBA) served as anchors for a multi-decade career in science, technology and engineering driven organizations.  She has led teams in both life sciences and environmental fields with excellent interpersonal, time management and multi-tasking abilities.  She is a hands-on mentor, coach and member of executive management team, published author, thought leader and public speaker.
